Matthew Hawthorne is an associate in the litigation section and maintains a general litigation practice, with an emphasis on commercial contract disputes, real property matters, and construction litigation.  He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state court, federal court, arbitration proceedings and on appeal.  His involvement in all aspects of a wide variety of cases, ranging in complexity and amount in controversy, provides a well-rounded perspective to each engagement.

Significant Representations/Results

• Obtained ~$1.5 million arbitration award in construction dispute against multi-billion dollar electronics company.
• Successfully briefed and defended favorable attorneys' fees ruling on appeal to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals
• Obtained ~$2.1 million settlement in federal court suit on behalf of contractor performing emergency relief and temporary housing work in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
