William V. McRae possesses decades of experience performing sophisticated commercial real estate and corporate transactions. He has assisted clients in structuring and closing transactions valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars involving the acquisition and disposition of land, office buildings, shopping centers and going-concern real estate companies. Mr. McRae has developed particular expertise assisting clients with mixed-use development issues, and maintains a practice focus in complex land transactions.

Mr. McRae handles matters involving the private equity syndication of apartment and historic rehab projects, the leasing of office and retail shopping center space, the financing of projects as counsel to both lenders and real estate owner/developers, the structuring and facilitation of complex 1031 exchanges and the repositioning and disposition of distressed real estate assets.

Significant Matters

  • Orchestrated the purchase and sale of commercial real estate and commercial real estate companies in transactions having an aggregate value in the hundreds of millions of dollars
  • Was instrumental in repositioning and ultimately selling a 770 acre distressed industrial real estate asset for a client in bankruptcy by helping facilitate its ultimate redevelopment as a mixed-use project with hotel, convention center, retail, marina and golf components. Client successfully sold the project for millions of dollars over the anticipated sale price.
