David P. Thatcher is a seasoned trial attorney who represents employers in sophisticated business litigation matters. He also advises employers concerning all aspects of employment law. In his 16-year career he has obtained favorable results for clients ranging from successful prosecution of securities fraud cases to winning the defense of a class action filed against a client by the EEOC.

Mr. Thatcher regularly appears on behalf of clients in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies across the country, in claims filed by employees, former employees, and government agencies. Additionally, he advises clients on daily employment issues, including trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and handbooks and policies.

Mr. Thatcher’s practice philosophy includes striving to obtain as comprehensive an understanding of the client’s business as possible, in order to render effective advice while managing litigation goals, reducing exposure and containing costs. Should going to court be necessary, he is prepared to vigorously advocate on behalf of client interests. 

Significant Transactions

  • Achieved summary judgment for employer in EEOC class action.
  • Achieved summary judgment for employer in whistleblower case.
  • Obtained large settlement in prosecuting allegation of unlawful use of client’s name.
  • Exonerated employer in trial of multiple discrimination claims.
  • Prosecuted securities fraud case and successfully obtained pay back of redemptions from other investors.
  • Successfully reformed trust to include erroneously omitted client, which was affirmed on appeal.
  • Successfully upheld and enforced joint ventures, which was affirmed on appeal.
