Stephen M. Leavins is a licensed Certified Public Accountant since 2001 and a licensed Attorney since 2009. Mr. Leavins’ unique background and knowledge of corporate, finance and taxation matters provides the firm’s clients with in-depth knowledge of both the legal and financial implications affecting corporate transactions.

Mr. Leavins practices in the areas of general corporate and securities law, with a focus on transactions, commercial contracts, mergers and reorganizations, the acquisition and disposition of assets, and other business-related matters, as well as pre-litigation and litigation support.

Mr. Leavins advises clients on matters of general corporate law including governance and regulatory state and federal filings. Additionally, he regularly assists clients with the formation of entities domestically and in a wide variety of international jurisdictions.

Mr. Leavins has represented transportation firms, exploration and production oil and gas companies, energy service providers, manufacturers, engineering firms, construction firms and other clients in domestic and cross-border transactions focused heavily in our regions energy industry.

Mr. Leavins is qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and spent seven years prior to entering the practice of law working in accounting and finance.

  • Represented a buyer in connection with its acquisition of a family-owned internet business

  • Represented a buyer in connection with its acquisition of a beef processing and supply business
  • Part of arbitration team that prevailed in arbitrating claim for indemnity arising out of the collapse of a drill rig in which client faced potential exposure to personal injury and property damage claims in excess of $25 million
  • Part of an arbitration team in SIAC arbitration prevailing on delay claims exceeding $3 million and defeating counterclaims for liquidated and actual damages of over $8 million
  • Successfully pursued breach of contract claims against Singaporean company for failure to take possession of and pay for marine products, including award of all legal fees
