In a CBS news special that aired on August 6, 2020, Philadelphia-based Shareholder Ken Trujillo sits down with news anchor Janelle Burrell to discuss the current Philadelphia community protests and the importance of identifying quality police officer candidates to effect real change and improve the police department culture.
“It’s a difficult place when you come in as a rookie police officer into a culture that has existed for decades,” says Trujillo. “From an employment standpoint, they are protected by an arbitration system that makes it very difficult to discipline bad police officers. The vast majority of police offers are good people, trying to do a very difficult job.”
Trujillo is a former federal prosecutor and Philadelphia City Solicitor who served on the City’s Police Corruption Task Force.
