Profile

James Asali is a Senior Counsel in the Philadelphia office where he focuses his practice on corporate and transactional law. In addition, he has served as President and CEO of Pack Green Coalition since January 2022. This initiative is focused on advancing the benefits of paper and other sustainable materials in packaging, influencing public policy, and amplifying the industry’s voice across the consumer and media landscapes. Prior to that, James was a legal and policy consultant to Ranpak Corp. and its parent company, One Madison Group LLC providing legal support to Ranpak’s global automation team and to One Madison’s investment team.

James previously served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of GMH Associates, Inc., and its affiliates, including GMH Capital Partners, L.P., from October 2013 through April 2020. As General Counsel, he handled all legal and compliance matters for the Philadelphia-based diversified real estate investment, development, and management company, venture capital firm and its equity sponsor. During this time, he worked closely with the senior acquisitions and development teams as GMH completed acquisitions of over $1 billion in multi-family and student housing real estate assets throughout the United States for the company’s core real estate business.

Prior to joining GMH in October of 2013, James was a partner in the corporate department of Archer & Greiner, P.C. in Philadelphia. While at Archer, he focused his practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, secured transactions, company formations, joint ventures, commercial contracts, employment contracts, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, public finance and real estate, closing transactions totaling in excess of $4 billion. James started his legal career an associate in both the litigation and business and finance groups at Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP in Philadelphia.
