Profile
John Guin is a Shareholder in the firm’s Construction Litigation and Commercial Litigation practice groups. His practice focuses on representing general contractors, subcontractors, and others (including owners and engineers) in complex construction litigation involving delay and impact damages, loss of productivity, design defects, bond claims, liens, scope changes, and related issues. John is regularly engaged on high-stakes disputes where clients need trial counsel who understands how construction projects actually operate.
John has litigated numerous construction disputes all the way through trial and final arbitration hearings. His litigation and trial experience spans multiple construction-related industries, including the construction of metals & mining facilities, government buildings, heavy industrial plants, energy plants, commercial buildings, and hotels.
On the front end, before litigation arises, John also assists clients avoid disputes by drafting and negotiating general contractor and subcontractor agreements, and similar construction-related contracts. He also helps clients work through mid-project issues, including change orders, contractor/subcontractor terminations, and payment disputes.
In addition to his construction practice, John has extensive general commercial litigation experience, having represented businesses, shareholders, and directors in a variety of cases involving breach of fiduciary duty, large contract controversies, False Claims Act claims, and other issues.
