Kevin Sweeney is spotlighted in Bloomberg Tax
In Bloomberg Tax’s Spotlight Series, Shareholder Kevin Sweeney was profiled on November 5, 2021, highlighting his career and life as a tax professional. He shared that he is an equity shareholder at the firm and focuses his practice on defending clients in IRS audits, civil tax litigation, and criminal tax investigations and prosecutions.
Since tax is a huge subject, Sweeney explains his area of special interest. “My area of special interest is the intersection between civil and criminal tax matters,” said Sweeney. “I enjoy helping clients navigate difficult situations, and few present more minefields than a civil IRS examination involving potentially sensitive issues.”
Sweeney shared that the best tax advice anyone ever gave him was to “always keep good records. Without them, an otherwise routine IRS audit or criminal investigation can become a nightmare.”
He also shared that if he had the opportunity to make one change in the tax world, he would probably beef up the credits and deductions for daycare and student loans to give more young people and families some much-needed financial relief.
