In an article published in The New York Times on March 9, 2024, Shareholder Kevin Sweeney contributed his insights on a criminal investigation into the company Caterpillar. The article examines how an interview between federal law enforcement officers and the witness never took place, and other actions that transpired in this investigation.
Sweeney had spent six years working in the Justice Department’s tax division and shared his thoughts on this case. “I would not expect the tax division to stop an investigation based on representations made by defense counsel without first having a discussion with the lead prosecutor,” Sweeney said.
